HIFU Skin Lifting Treatment: High intensity Focused Ultrasound Therapy
HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly.
Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage. While this may seem counterintuitive, the damage actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen — a protein that provides structure to the skin.
The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin
with fewer wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent issue.
HIFU may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.
People with photodamaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.
Older people with more extensive photo-aging, severe skin laxity, or very saggy skin on the neck aren’t good candidates and may need surgery.
HIFU isn’t recommended for people with infections and open skin lesions at the target area, severe or cystic acne, and metallic implants in the treatment area.
The High Intensity Focused Ultrasound therapy is a relatively new cosmetic, skincare procedure. However, many experts find its long – term results to be comparable to the old style, surgical skin lifting techniques, minus the recovery time, discomfort and other risks.
The HIFU skin lifting treatment generates and circulates heat using ultrasound waves as directed to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Which in turn lifts and stretches the skin producing a highly visible, revitalizing, effect and more youthful appearance.
That depends on a combination of factors, including your age, your skin’s conditionand the standard of care you’ve received. It most cases a highly favorable result lasting 2 – 3 years can normally be expected and achieved, after just one HIFU treatment. If your procedure is performed by a competent, skilled, skincare professional, your experience will be free of pain and complications and your end results will be even more satisfying.
The therapy process is well known to be effective for the following:
- The reduction of fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin
- As a safe, non-invasive, pain free, face-lifting alternative
- Revitalizing and improving the shape of your face.
- Lifting, tightening and toning on eyebrows, frown and forehead (lines) cheeks, nasolabial folds and chin.
- Lacrimal sac reduction
- Tighten and tones the Décolletage areas of the body (upper chest, neck, face)
- For post liposuction skin-smoothing treatments
HIFU is a promising treatment especially for middle aged and younger people, who don’t want to experience the negative affects and long down time, typically associated with old style cut and stitch medical lifting procedures. The therapy may not work for people with photo damaged skin, or more severe cases involving loose or wrinkled skin. In these cases, before there is realization of results as expected, several treatments may be required.
RF RADIOFREQUENCY TREATMENTS
radio frequency waves
RF waves are a form of radiation. Radiation is the release of energy in the form of electromagnetic waves.
It can be classified as low energy or high energy depending on the amount of energy released. X-rays and gamma rays are examples of high energy radiation while RF waves are considered low energy.
Radio waves, WiFi, and microwaves are all forms of RF waves.
The form of radiation used in RF skin tightening releases about 1 billion times lessenergy than X-rays.
The primary benefits of RF therapy are tightening your skin and getting rid of wrinkles.
However, RF therapy may also help fight sun damage due to its ability stimulate the production of collagen.
Fighting sun damage
Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause the collagen fibers in your skin to break down and become disorganized.
IT CAN BE USED ON THE BODY TOO
Skincare expert Paula Begoun affirms that radiofrequency treatments can “smooth out stretch marks and tighten areas of loose skin”, making it just as apt for your bum as it is for your face.
Radiofrequency can be used to treat the skin on the face and body, including:
- Sagging skin under chin
- Nasolabial folds
- Wrinkles around the mouth
- Lines or folds between the eyebrows
- Lines on the forehead
- Crow’s Feet
- Lines or sagging skin under the eye
- Loose or crepey skin on the body (including abdomen, chest, and under the arms)
